Darbar Move offices to reopen in Jammu on November 2

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah will receive a Guard of Honour as over 100 offices move to the winter capital.

More than 100 offices will reopen in Jammu on November 2, 2026, marking the return of the Darbar Move to the winter capital, according to Greater Kashmir.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police contingent will present a ceremonial Guard of Honour to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah at the Civil Secretariat on Monday morning. This will be followed by the likely customary press conference by the Chief Minister.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is expected to chair meetings with the Council of Ministers and Administrative Secretaries on the opening day to assess administrative preparedness. The Civil Secretariat and Heads of Departments within the premises will observe office timings from 9.30 am to 5.30 pm.

For Heads of Departments located outside the Civil Secretariat observing six days a week, timings will be 10 am to 4.30 pm. The General Administration Department has already established a winter secretariat at the Civil Secretariat in Srinagar.

The Chief Minister’s Secretariat and 40 other offices moved to Jammu in full, while 50 specified offices moved in camp. Offices moving in camp carry 33 per cent of staff strength, or 10 officials, whichever is the minimum.

The second batch of Move employees and important records reached Jammu on Sunday, November 1, 2026. Offices observing five days a week closed in Srinagar on October 30, while those observing six days a week closed on October 31, 2026.
