Delhi traders claim Rs 10,000-11,000 crore loss after INDIA bloc rally
Chamber of Trade and Industry Chairman Brijesh Goyal said 2.5 lakh shops remained closed near Ramlila Maidan.
Delhi's trading sector faced estimated losses of between Rs 10,000 crore and Rs 11,000 crore following the INDIA bloc rally at Ramlila Maidan, according to ANI.
Chamber of Trade and Industry (CTI) Chairman Brijesh Goyal said on Sunday that approximately 2.5 lakh shops out of nearly three lakh in the vicinity of the venue remained closed.
Goyal stated that about 20 to 25 major markets were affected by the disruptions, which he attributed to panic regarding the expected arrival of large crowds and vehicles.
The chairman also claimed that the movement of 3 lakh to 4 lakh people who typically travel to the capital for business was affected.
According to Goyal, around 5,000 vehicles, including trucks and small tempos, could not operate, which disrupted the loading and unloading of goods.
The CTI chairman noted that these losses occurred during the peak Diwali season, with Dhanteras shopping scheduled for four days later.
