Delhi traders claim Rs 10,000-11,000 crore loss after INDIA bloc rally
Chamber of Trade and Industry Chairman Brijesh Goyal said the Ramlila Maidan protest caused massive market closures and transport disruptions.
Delhi's trading sector faced an estimated loss of between Rs 10,000 crore and Rs 11,000 crore following the INDIA bloc rally at Ramlila Maidan, according to Moneycontrol and ANI.
Chamber of Trade and Industry (CTI) Chairman Brijesh Goyal stated on Sunday that approximately 2.5 lakh shops remained closed out of nearly 3 lakh shops in 20 to 25 major markets near the venue.
Goyal said the closures resulted from panic regarding the expected influx of people and vehicles for the protest.
The CTI chairman further claimed that 3 lakh to 4 lakh business travellers failed to arrive in the capital and about 5,000 vehicles, including trucks and tempos, could not operate.
These disruptions hindered the movement of goods and customers during the peak Diwali season, just four days before Dhanteras.
Goyal questioned whether the organisers would provide compensation for the financial impact on the trading community.
