PM Modi to launch Pune Metro projects worth Rs 21,800 crore on Nov 3

The Prime Minister will inaugurate the Pink Line and lay the foundation stone for Phase-II of the Pune Metro via video conferencing.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for Pune Metro projects valued at approximately Rs 21,800 crore on 3 November 2026. According to Pragativadi, the event will be held via video conferencing at 12:30 PM.

The Prime Minister will officially inaugurate Pune Metro Line 3, known as the Pink Line, which connects Maan to the District Court metro station. This 23-kilometre corridor was built at a cost exceeding Rs 8,300 crore and links the Hinjewadi IT hub to Shivajinagar.

The Pink Line will be operated entirely by women train operators and will receive nearly 30 per cent of its energy needs from solar power. The corridor aims to reduce traffic congestion and provide high-speed commutes for residents and IT professionals.

During the ceremony, PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone for Phase-II of the Pune Metro, which is estimated to cost around Rs 13,500 crore. This phase includes four major corridors: Line 2A (Vanaz to Chandani Chowk Extension), Line 2B (Ramwadi to Vitthalwadi Extension), Line 4 (Kharadi to Khadakwasla), and Line 4A (Nal Stop to Manik Baug).

The expansion plans include interchanges at Swargate, Nal Stop, and Kharadi Bypass to connect residential and commercial zones, including Magarpatta, Hadapsar, Swargate, Nanded City, and Warje.
