Mamata Banerjee's nameplate removed and painted orange at Nandan

The nameplate of the former West Bengal Chief Minister was removed from the Kolkata cultural centre ahead of the Kolkata International Film Festival.

The nameplate of former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has been removed from the main hall of the Nandan cultural centre in Kolkata and painted orange, according to ANI.

While Banerjee's nameplate was altered, the plaque for her predecessor and former Chief Minister Jyoti Basu remains intact at the premises.

The change occurred before the annual Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF).

Separately, Banerjee attended an INDIA bloc mega rally at Delhi's Ramlila Maidan on Sunday to protest alleged electoral roll irregularities and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise.

Addressing the rally, Banerjee accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of looting West Bengal and stated that she would continue to fight to protect democracy through political and democratic means.

She said that people in Bengal were victims of the SIR and asserted that she would not surrender.
