Madhya Pradesh celebrated its 71st Foundation Day at the Lal Parade Ground in Bhopal on Sunday. The event included musical performances and an exhibition documenting the region's architectural history, according to The Times of India.
The Madhya Pradesh Police Band performed the national anthem after a group of 71 children presented ‘Vande Mataram’. Playback singer Monali Thakur also performed a variety of songs, including ‘Sawaar Loon’, ‘Moh Moh Ke Dhaage’, ‘Chham Chham’ and ‘Badri Ki Dulhania’.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav inaugurated ‘Hamara Bhopal, Hamare Bhoj’, an exhibition organised by the Raja Bhoj research division of Maharaja Vikramaditya Shodhpeeth. The exhibition featured 160 drawings of heritage sites across Bhopal, Raisen, Vidisha and adjoining areas.
The collection includes depictions of Raisen Fort, the Shiva temple in Bhojpur, Bhimbetka’s prehistoric rock art, Sanchi Stupa, Ashapuri temples, Taj-ul-Masajid, Gauhar Mahal and Rani Kamlapati Mahal. These drawings were created during a workshop where artists studied the architectural details of these sites.
The three-day celebrations continue on Monday with folk and tribal dance performances and an instrument-focused presentation called ‘Breathing Fiesta’. Development exhibitions and a regional food fair will remain open from noon to 8pm.
