Soldier assaulted by family members over property dispute in Gurdaspur
The victim's wife recorded the incident and alleged that a doctor failed to provide adequate medical care under pressure from the relatives.
A soldier was allegedly attacked by his mother, brother, and other relatives in Sainpur Abbal Khair village in Punjab's Gurdaspur district, according to the Free Press Journal.
The victim, Wazir Singh, was home on leave when the incident occurred. His wife, Simmi Saini, stated that the family called him to a shop he had built and registered in his name to discuss a dispute regarding agricultural land.
Saini said the meeting became violent when relatives allegedly attacked Singh as he exited his vehicle. She claimed she was also assaulted when she arrived at the scene, but managed to film the confrontation on her phone.
The soldier was reportedly taken to the Government Hospital in Gurdaspur while unconscious. Saini alleged that the doctor on duty did not provide sufficient medical care due to pressure from the relatives, leading her to take Singh home to recuperate.
Saini further claimed that the family is receiving threats from the accused and that the relatives have placed locks on a property she purchased.
Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Jai Singh confirmed that the injured soldier's statement has been recorded. He said an investigation is underway and legal action will be taken against those involved.
