Reliance Foundation to build Nita Mukesh Ambani Anant Ashray in Karjat
The 100-acre inclusive township will provide lifelong housing and care for 5,000 residents including orphaned children and senior citizens.
Reliance Foundation Chairperson Nita Ambani announced the establishment of Nita Mukesh Ambani Anant Ashray on Sunday, according to ANI. The chairperson performed the Bhumi Pujan and laid the foundation stone for the project in Karjat, near Mumbai.
The proposed not-for-profit institution will cover approximately 100 acres and will be developed in multiple phases following necessary approvals. It is designed to serve as a permanent home for senior citizens, orphaned children, and persons with disabilities.
The township aims to house more than 5,000 residents. Including medical professionals, caregivers, and support staff, the community is expected to support around 15,000 people in total.
The facility will feature eight residential villages named after sacred Indian rivers. Planned infrastructure includes a hospital, inclusive schools, a temple, farms, and vocational spaces such as a bakery and craft studios.
Nita Ambani said the project is a way to provide a sense of family and medical support for those needing care. She stated that the initiative aims to give people the opportunity to live with dignity.
The project also intends to benefit the local region, with approximately 1,000 people expected to access its education, therapy, and employment opportunities.
