Four workers injured as school slab collapses in Gwalior

The Madhya Pradesh Police Housing Corporation has suspended two engineers following the structural collapse at an under-construction school site.

Four workers sustained injuries when a portion of a building under construction at a CM Rise school in Gwalior collapsed during slab casting, according to The Times of India.

The incident occurred at the Govt Padmaraje Girls Higher Secondary School in the Kampoo police station area, where a Sandipani Vidyalaya is being built at an estimated Rs 40 crore.

The Madhya Pradesh Police Housing Corporation has suspended assistant engineer Rajdeep Singh Jadon and senior engineer Sathyendra Pandey, while issuing a show-cause notice to executive engineer Manoj Acharya.

The injured workers, identified as Hariram, Rajesh, Dileshwar, and Jharokha, were taken to a trauma centre.

A site supervisor claimed the collapse happened because concrete accumulated in one spot due to pressure from a concrete pump, though he denied any issues with construction materials.

Experts have called for a detailed investigation to determine if flaws in the approved structural design or calculations contributed to the failure of the second-floor slab.
