Senior IAS officer CK Anil takes over Bihar education department
The appointment of the 1991-batch officer has raised expectations for administrative transformation in the state's education system.
Senior IAS officer CK Anil has taken charge as the Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) of the Education Department in Bihar, according to The New Indian Express. Anil, a 1991-batch officer of the Bihar cadre, is known for a decisive and uncompromising administrative style.
The officer has already initiated several measures, including a dress code for government school teachers and education officials to discourage Western-style attire. He has also started a review of district education offices, beginning with Siwan.
While the appointment has received positive responses from supporters of ruling parties, the Opposition, and citizens, it has reportedly caused apprehension among some departmental employees. Some staff members at district-level offices expressed concern that his strict monitoring may leave little room for administrative complacency.
A senior staff member, speaking on condition of anonymity, remarked that Anil uses practical wisdom to ensure decisions are both legally right and warranted, creating no problems for employees or teachers.
Anil has held approximately 22 recorded postings across 20 locations during a career spanning more than 35 years. His previous significant assignments include serving as Secretary of the Revenue and Land Reforms Department.
He will be assisted by a team of senior officers, including Secretary Rajiv Raushan, to address challenges such as teaching standards, school infrastructure, and the implementation of the government's teacher transfer policy.
