Hyderabad to witness planetary alignment and meteor showers in late 2026
Stargazers in Telangana can observe a four-planet parade and the Geminids meteor shower between November and December.
The night skies over Hyderabad and other parts of Telangana will feature a series of celestial events during the final weeks of 2026, according to Telangana Today.
Throughout November, Saturn and its ring system will remain bright in the evening sky and can be seen using a modest telescope.
Before sunrise, a rare alignment will occur on the eastern horizon where Mercury, Venus, Mars and Jupiter appear together in a four-planet parade visible to the naked eye.
The Leonids meteor shower will peak in mid-November, known for producing fast-moving shooting stars. This will be followed by the Geminids meteor shower in mid-December.
The Geminids are expected to peak on the night of December 13 to 14, potentially delivering up to 150 multi-coloured meteors per hour. An early-setting crescent moon will provide dark conditions for viewing.
While meteors can be seen with the naked eye, stargazers in Hyderabad may need to travel to the outskirts of the city or rural areas to avoid urban light pollution.
