Telangana to link local industries with global supply chains

Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu aims to turn every district into an economic growth centre through export-focused strategies.

Telangana is planning to integrate local businesses into international supply chains and transform every district into a hub for economic growth, according to Urban Acres.

Speaking at the Mega Free Trade Agreements (FTA) Outreach Programme at T-Hub in Hyderabad on Monday, Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu said exports are vital to India’s long-term economic goals.

The Minister stated that the State government will assist exporters, especially Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), in understanding how to use market access provided by recently concluded and ongoing FTAs.

The government intends to identify specific products for each district to promote their manufacturing, processing and export. This strategy aims to strengthen local industrial ecosystems instead of focusing only on major urban centres.

Sridhar Babu also said the administration wants to identify surplus agricultural produce after domestic needs are met to channel it into export markets and prevent waste.

The government's next steps involve identifying district-specific products and guiding industries and exporters on how to utilise India's FTA partnerships.
