Village defence guard and wife die of bullet wounds in Reasi
The victims were residents of Brailkund, Manjikote, Bagodass, according to a report by The Hindu.
A Village Defence Guard (VDG) and his wife died from bullet wounds in Jammu’s Reasi district on Monday, November 2, 2026, The Hindu reported.
The deceased have been named as Javed Ahmed and his wife, Shaheen Akhter. Both were residents of Brailkund, Manjikote, Bagodass.
Officers from the Chassana police station visited the location to investigate. The police have not yet released specific details regarding the incident.
This event marks the third such occurrence in the Jammu region over the last two years. Previous incidents include a woman being killed in Kishtwar in 2025 and the kidnapping and killing of two VDGs in Kishtwar in 2024.
In a separate incident in Rajouri district, an Army porter named Krishan Lal was injured after stepping on an anti-personnel mine. The blast occurred at 11:30 a.m. near a forward post in the Nowshera sector close to the Line of Control (LoC).
