13 states and central agencies meet to combat organised cybercrime

The Telangana Cyber Security Bureau hosted a workshop in Hyderabad to strengthen coordination against cross-border cybercrime networks.

The Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) met with 11 central agencies and 13 states in Hyderabad on Tuesday to improve coordination against organised cybercrime networks. According to The Hindu, the workshop was held at the Telangana Integrated Command and Control Centre (TGiCCC) to address crimes operating across state and national borders.

Director General of Police C.V. Anand inaugurated the meeting, which included 45 officers from various state law enforcement agencies. The session featured representatives from the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), the Enforcement Directorate (ED), the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), and the Intelligence Bureau (IB), among others.

Mr. Anand stated that Telangana ranked first in the last two reviews by the Prime Minister’s Office. He noted that while cybercrime complaints rose by 24 per cent across India in 2024-25, they fell by 3 per cent in Telangana, with financial losses in the state declining by 20 per cent compared to a 4 per cent national decline.

Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) Chief Executive Officer Rajesh Kumar said scam compounds are moving from Southeast Asia to Africa, Sri Lanka, and other countries. He noted that all states except one have notified their State Cyber Crime Coordination Centres (S4Cs).

Mr. Kumar also outlined proposed reforms, including a unified investigation platform and a standard operating procedure for banks prepared by the RBI to halt suspicious transactions. The meeting also focused on establishing escalation protocols and strengthening the use of I4C platforms through real-time information sharing.
