IAS officer CK Anil takes charge as Bihar education ACS
The 1991-batch officer's appointment has raised expectations for administrative reforms in the state's education system.
Senior IAS officer CK Anil has assumed charge as the Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) of Bihar’s Education Department, according to NorthBlockSouthBlock and The New Indian Express. Anil is a 1991-batch officer of the Bihar cadre known for a decisive and strict administrative style.
The appointment has reportedly generated optimism among the ruling parties, the Opposition, and the public. However, it has also caused apprehension among some departmental employees, particularly those in district education offices, due to his reputation for close supervision and strict enforcement of instructions.
Anil previously served as the District Magistrate of Siwan in 2004, where he reportedly took action against criminal and political networks. He has held approximately 22 recorded postings across 20 locations during a career spanning over 35 years, including a tenure as Secretary of the Revenue and Land Reforms Department.
One of his early initiatives includes introducing a dress code for government school teachers and education officials to emphasise professional conduct. He has also begun reviewing district-level education administration, starting with Siwan.
Anil will be supported by a team of senior officials, including Education Department Secretary Rajiv Raushan. The department faces ongoing challenges regarding teaching standards, teacher attendance, school infrastructure, and recruitment transparency.
