Gujarat launches AC Vista Dome buses at Statue of Unity

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the premium sightseeing service at Ekta Nagar to enhance the state's tourism experience.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first AC Vista Dome Coach bus service at Ekta Nagar, home to the Statue of Unity, on Monday, according to reports from Mint and Urban Acres. The new transport service is a joint initiative by the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) and Gujarat Tourism.

The premium buses feature a transparent, dome-shaped sky-view roof designed to provide passengers with panoramic views of the landscape. Each vehicle has a seating capacity of 23 passengers with revolving, fully adjustable reclining seats, plus a seat for the driver.

According to The News Mill, each bus costs between Rs 2.19 crore and Rs 2.2 crore. Onboard amenities include an LED smart television, CCTV cameras, a mini refrigerator, mobile charging points, and a coffee and tea-making machine.

Safety features include toughened glass, emergency hammers, and an advanced fire detection and suppression system. The exterior of the buses displays graphics of various sites, including the Somnath Temple, Gir National Park, and the White Rann of Dhordo.

Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi stated that the government will roll out similar services in stages across other heritage routes and tourist spots in the state. Of the five buses manufactured to international standards, two have been launched.

The remaining three buses are expected to begin operations within the next two months. Tourists can book tickets for the service through the official GSRTC website.
