Bharat Taxi Bihar to launch in four cities by November
The app-based service will allow drivers to become members and shareholders of the cooperative model in Patna, Gaya, Vaishali and Muzaffarpur.
Bharat Taxi Bihar is scheduled to begin operations in Patna, Gaya, Vaishali and Muzaffarpur by the end of November, according to Urban Acres.
The service will offer app-based bookings for taxis and autos. Unlike traditional ride-hailing platforms, this cooperative model allows participating drivers, known as sarathis, to act as members, co-owners and shareholders with representation on the management board.
Transport secretary Raj Kumar recently chaired a meeting at Vishweshwaraiya Bhawan to review preparations. The discussion covered the technology platform, promotional plans, and the verification of driver and vehicle documentation to ensure all permits are in order.
Chief executive officer Col Himanshu stated that approximately 2,005 drivers in Bihar have already signed up. He said the model aims to lower the reliance of drivers on commissions taken from every ride.
Transport commissioner Arif Ahsan said the service is expected to provide a safe and convenient travel option for passengers. The customer app has been activated and testing is complete, according to officials.
The transport department is currently working with driver associations to increase local participation. The rollout will proceed once the remaining registration and compliance tasks are finished within the set timeline.
