Draw of lots held to select beneficiaries for 1,920 Hyderabad flats

The selection process covers affordable housing towers proposed for L.B. Nagar, Musheerabad, Goshamahal and Chandrayangutta constituencies.

A draw of lots was conducted on Tuesday to select beneficiaries for 1,920 affordable flats at Indiramma Housing towers in Hyderabad, according to The Hindu.

The proposed towers are to be built in the L.B. Nagar, Musheerabad, Goshamahal and Chandrayangutta Assembly constituencies. Hyderabad in-charge Minister Ponnam Prabhakar and Goshamahal MLA T.

Raja Singh inaugurated the event.

Minister Prabhakar said Indiramma houses will be sanctioned for city residents who own land but lack the means to construct a home. He added that ground breaking ceremonies in the four constituencies will be organised soon.

The government plans to build 1 lakh affordable flats within the Core Urban Region Economy (CORE) limits. Lands from the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) and the Police department have been allotted for these housing towers.

Beneficiaries have already been selected for affordable flats in 20 Assembly constituencies within the Outer Ring Road (ORR) limits. The Board’s Vice Chairman V. P.

Gautham stated a notification will be released for houses in four more constituencies within the ORR limits.

A mop-up draw of lots will be held on Wednesday to re-allot 1,700 flats in 14 other Assembly constituencies. This follows the completion of the selection process in 16 constituencies last August, where some applicants were found ineligible during field-level verification.
