Gujarat CM distributes appointment letters to 8,169 Vidya Sahayaks
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel announced that the Education Department plans to recruit 10,000 more teachers in the coming period.
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel distributed appointment recommendation letters to 8,169 newly appointed Vidya Sahayaks, or assistant teachers, on Monday. According to ANI, the ceremony took place at Trimandir in Adalaj in the presence of Education Minister Pradyuman Vaja and Minister of State for Education Rivabaa Jadeja.
Patel stated that the teachers would be guardians of the country's future and play a role in the vision of Viksit Bharat. He noted that more than 6,000 women were among the recruits, which he said reflected the presence of Nari Shakti in the education sector.
The Chief Minister mentioned that the recruitment followed a transparent, merit-based process. He also announced that the Education Department is planning to hire about 10,000 additional teachers in the near future.
Education Minister Pradyuman Vaja said the government completed a recruitment process for roughly 12,000 Vidya Sahayaks to improve primary education. He explained that this included about 11,000 positions for Gujarati-medium classes 1 to 5 and nearly 987 positions for different mediums.
Vaja urged teachers to use technology and activities to make classrooms engaging instead of using rote learning. Minister of State Rivabaa Jadeja added that educators are vital for shaping the character and thinking of children.
The event was attended by several officials, including District Panchayat President Rajesh Patel and Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board Chairman Mukesh Pandya.
