Gujarat launches AC Vista Dome coach bus service at Statue of Unity

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first of five premium buses designed with transparent roofs for tourists.

The Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) and Gujarat Tourism have launched a new AC Vista Dome Coach bus service at the Statue of Unity, according to ANI. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first service and took a ride on the bus.

The initiative, guided by Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, involves five exclusive buses manufactured in India to international standards. These coaches feature a transparent dome-shaped roof to allow passengers to view the sky and landscapes from air-conditioned cabins.

Each bus has a capacity for 23 passengers with adjustable reclining seats and a driver's seat. Onboard amenities include mobile charging points, a mini refrigerator, a tea and coffee maker, CCTV cameras, and a premium LED Smart TV.

Safety features consist of toughened glass with emergency hammers and an advanced system for fire detection and suppression. The exterior of the vehicles displays graphics of sites such as the Somnath Temple, Gir National Park, and the White Rann of Dhordo.

Each bus is priced at ₹2.19 crore. While two of the five planned buses have been inaugurated, the remaining three are expected to be introduced within the next two months.

Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi said that similar services will be rolled out in phases at other heritage routes and tourist spots across Gujarat. Passengers can book tickets through the GSRTC website.
