Kerala: New tech tools to improve Home Ministry and police coordination
Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala said the HM Acts and HOMeS initiatives were created by the State Police to boost operational efficiency.
Kerala Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala on Tuesday said the state has introduced two new technology-driven tools, HM Acts and HOMeS, to improve coordination between the Home Ministry and the police.
According to ANI, these initiatives were developed in-house by the CCTNS Division of the Kerala Police, building on existing iCoPS digital infrastructure.
The HM Acts tool is intended to manage public petitions more effectively. Chennithala stated that when a citizen submits a petition, the follow-up actions and final decisions will be communicated back to the petitioner to ensure timely replies.
The HOMeS project provides a dedicated dashboard for the Home Minister's office to monitor incoming communications and crime metrics. This dashboard will display data on missing persons and registered cheating cases to assist administrative reviews.
Chennithala clarified that the department will not interfere with active police investigations or inquiries. He noted that the dashboard allows the Home Department to review its own functioning and maintain better coordination with the police.
The Home Minister also mentioned that measures will be taken to address increasing juvenile crimes through awareness in schools and colleges. He added that the state government's steps have been welcomed by all political parties and communities.
