Six arrested for attacking BSF personnel in Tripura
Chief Minister Manik Saha has ordered swift action after a mob attacked security forces in Sepahijala district.
A group of villagers allegedly attacked Border Security Force (BSF) personnel near the Ashabari border outpost in Tripura’s Sepahijala district on Monday, according to reports from Deccan Herald and The Hawk. The incident occurred after BSF personnel detained a person suspected of involvement in smuggling activities.
The confrontation resulted in injuries to three BSF jawans, including a Company Commander. The attackers reportedly used sticks, vandalised a BSF vehicle, and attempted to snatch a rifle from a guard. One attacker was also injured during the clash, which also saw villagers allegedly attempting to block roads by felling trees.
Police have arrested at least nine people in connection with the incident, including three women. An intensive search operation was launched on Monday night to apprehend others believed to be involved in the assault.
Chief Minister Manik Saha condemned the violence, stating on social media that such acts against security forces are unacceptable. He noted that the assault is a serious issue that must be addressed strictly through legal channels.
Saha directed authorities to take stringent action to ensure justice is delivered. He added that security personnel deserve respect and protection.
