Delhi Police ACP Manasvi Vashistha suspended after personnel protest
The suspension follows a demonstration outside the police headquarters where personnel demanded the reinstatement of two transferred officers.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Manasvi Vashistha has been suspended following a protest by police personnel outside the Delhi Police headquarters, according to reports by The New Indian Express.
The suspension was taken in connection with the incident where Vashistha joined personnel protesting against the transfer of two officers, a police source said on Tuesday.
Around 150 Delhi Police personnel, including women officers, gathered outside the headquarters on Monday to seek the revocation of the transfer orders.
The protesting personnel demanded the reinstatement of ACP Vashistha and Shahdara Station House Officer (SHO) Inspector Arun Kumar to their previous postings.
The protest was triggered by a confrontation between police and lawyers at the Shahdara police station. A delegation met Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar to submit five demands, including the registration of FIRs against lawyers involved in hooliganism.
During the demonstration, personnel held placards and raised slogans. New Delhi Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Sachin Sharma attempted to persuade the protesters to call off the demonstration, but they demanded a Sampark Sabha with the commissioner.
