Telangana: CM directs officials to build high-quality facilities for Khelo India Games

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has ordered the creation of durable sporting infrastructure for the upcoming youth games in December.

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has instructed officials to develop high-quality and durable facilities for the 8th Khelo India Youth Games. According to Urban Acres, the event will take place from December 11 to 22 across 20 venues in six cities, including Hyderabad.

The Games are expected to host more than 7,000 athletes and approximately 2,000 coaches, officials, and support staff from across India. Competitions will cover 27 disciplines and one demonstration event.

During a review meeting on Monday, Reddy noted that sports facilities built under the previous BRS regime had deteriorated. He demanded strict measures to ensure these new venues remain functional after the event concludes.

The Chief Minister also suggested coordinating the Games with the Invest Telangana Global Summit, which is scheduled for December 7 to 9. He said resources for the investment summit could be used for the sporting event where possible.

Reddy requested that officials include the traditional sport Karra Saamu, or stick fighting, under the host state's quota. He also advised against spending excessively on the opening and closing ceremonies due to El Niño conditions.

Group-I officers have been tasked with monitoring preparations from the start until the conclusion of the Games. Officials must submit weekly progress reports to ensure athletes receive proper accommodation and food.
