Police arrested nine people in an overnight operation following an assault on three Border Security Force (BSF) personnel in the Ashabari area of Tripura, Superintendent of Police Bijoy Debbarma said on Tuesday.
According to The News Mill, the incident occurred on Monday morning in the Boxanagar area. The attackers allegedly tried to take weapons from the injured officers and caused damage to a government vehicle.
The assault reportedly followed the detention of an individual suspected of involvement in smuggling activities. Superintendent of Police Debbarma described the attack by villagers as "absolutely shameful."
The Director General of Police is personally monitoring the investigation, while the BSF Inspector General has met with local police to coordinate a response. Chief Minister Manik Saha stated that violence against security forces is unacceptable and directed authorities to take swift action.
