Odisha restores 10 of 12 damaged National Highway road links

The remaining two road sections on National Highway routes are expected to be repaired within the next 48 hours, according to Urban Acres.

The Odisha Works Department has completed the restoration of 10 out of 12 severely damaged road links on National Highway routes following Cyclone Arnab and subsequent floods, Urban Acres reported.

Law, Works and Excise Minister Prithviraj Harichandan chaired a review meeting at Lok Seva Bhawan to assess infrastructure damage and repair progress across the state.

The damaged network includes parts of NH-59, NH-157 and NH-326. Officials stated that the final two damaged links should be fixed within 48 hours.

During the meeting, Harichandan instructed officials to strengthen infrastructure against future climate disruptions. This includes building protection walls in landslide-prone areas and improving drainage systems to manage flash floods.

Principal Secretary Sanjay Kumar Singh expressed thanks to engineers and ground teams for restoring transport networks. The department aims to provide swift public services following disasters.

To assist with future disaster management, officials decided to document repair work through video recordings. These will be compiled into a reference booklet for planning and response.
