Jharbandh police arrested two men on Monday for allegedly assaulting a booth level officer (BLO) and obstructing his official duties in Bargarh, according to The New Indian Express.
The accused have been identified as 32-year-old Rajesh Sidar of Badanki village and 30-year-old Kishor Bariha of Goudbahal, Chhattisgarh.
The victim, 45-year-old Krupasindhu Bariha, a teacher at Bandamunda upper primary school, filed a complaint stating the incident occurred on Sunday during a door-to-door survey.
Bariha alleged that Rajesh Sidar pressured him to update his wife's name in the voter list from Padmalata Dharua to Padmalata Sidar.
When the officer said he could not make the change, Rajesh allegedly abused him, while Kishor Bariha reportedly joined the assault and struck the officer's head against a cement electric pole.
