Teachers' association seeks clarity on PGT and headmaster posts in Andhra Pradesh

The Navya Andhra Teachers Association requested details regarding sanctioned vacancies for Post Graduate Teachers and Model Primary School headmasters.

The Navya Andhra Teachers Association (NTA) has requested the State government to clarify sanctioned posts for Post Graduate Teachers (PGTs) and Model Primary School (MPS) Headmasters, according to The Hindu.

NTA State president K. Harikrishna and general secretary M. Srinivasa Rao stated on Tuesday that details in G.O.

Ms. No. 156 raised questions. They noted that while the government order lists 1,86,273 sanctioned posts and 1,61,369 employees, there are 24,904 vacancies.

The association leaders said the order lacks a specific breakdown for PGT posts in High School Plus institutions. They noted there are 292 girls’ and 210 co-educational High School Plus institutions in the State and asked for the sanctioned PGT strength for them.

The NTA also requested information on the cadre status of School Assistants performing PGT duties. Regarding MPS Headmasters and School Assistants, the association pointed to 9,656 sanctioned posts with 4,494 employees, leaving 5,162 vacancies.

The association leaders sought a detailed breakdown of these vacancies, specifically distinguishing between Primary School Headmaster (PSHM) and School Assistant posts. They also expressed concern that the government has not consulted registered teachers' associations for the last six months.

The NTA urged authorities to return to the practice of consulting teachers' organisations before making decisions on service-related matters.
