Tusshar Kapoor receives Rs 5 crore extortion threat
Mumbai Police suspect an unidentified person impersonated a Bishnoi gang member to intimidate the actor.
Bollywood actor Tusshar Kapoor allegedly received an extortion call demanding Rs 5 crore from an individual claiming to be Harry Boxer, a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, according to the Times of India.
The Mumbai Crime Branch has conducted an initial probe and found no evidence that actual members of the Bishnoi gang were involved in the threat. Technical teams compared the audio from the call with official voice samples of Harry Boxer in their database, but the voices did not match.
Police believe an unidentified person may have used the gang's name to frighten the actor and demand money. Following an informal alert from Kapoor, his security has been increased.
The investigation has been transferred to the Crime Branch and its Anti-Extortion Cell. Authorities are working to find the source of the audio recording and identify the caller.
No First Information Report (FIR) has been filed yet as the police continue to investigate the origin of the threat.
