Bangladeshi national detained in Khowai for alleged illegal border crossing
A youth was apprehended by plainclothes police personnel in the Asarambari area while allegedly attempting to return to Bangladesh on Tuesday.
Khowai police apprehended a Bangladeshi national in the Asarambari area of Tripura on Tuesday, 3 November, for allegedly crossing the border illegally, according to Tripura Star News.
The youth had reportedly entered India from Bangladesh approximately one month ago. He was detained by plainclothes police personnel while allegedly attempting to return to Bangladesh.
The individual was subsequently handed over to the Khowai Police Station following the detention.
There have been allegations that Bangladeshi nationals frequently cross the border illegally through the Asarambari area of Khowai.
Residents of the state are watching to see what steps the administration takes to address alleged security lapses and prevent such incidents.
