STF seizes 25,000 cartridges and arrests five in Jhajjar district
The Special Task Force Rohtak acted on a tip-off from STF Bihar to recover ammunition from two vehicles in Rohad village.
The Special Task Force (STF) Rohtak seized 25,000 live cartridges of various calibres from two vehicles near Triveni Dhaba in Rohad village, Jhajjar, on Tuesday. According to The Tribune, the operation followed a tip-off from STF Bihar and resulted in the arrest of five individuals, including a woman.
The team searched a Tata Harrier and a Hyundai Aura, both with Uttar Pradesh registration numbers. Officials stated that 24,400 cartridges with KF 7.65 and BMM KF markings were found in the Tata Harrier, while 600 BMM KF marked cartridges were recovered from the Hyundai Aura. Eight mobile phones were also seized.
The arrested persons have been identified as Afifuddin, also known as Munna Khan (49), Asim Rais (33), Sabloo Khan (32), Arbaz Ali (27), and Zeenat (33). All five are residents of Badaun in Uttar Pradesh. The STF said none of the occupants could provide a valid licence for the ammunition.
Preliminary investigations suggest that Afifuddin, who allegedly runs a gunhouse in Badaun, procured the ammunition from a gunhouse owner in Sirsa. The STF noted the seizure is linked to an operation in Bhojpur district, where Bihar Police seized approximately 20,000 cartridges a day earlier.
An FIR has been registered at the Asauda police station under Sections 25(1-b)(a) and 25(8) of the Arms Act. Further investigations are underway in coordination with STF Bihar and Uttar Pradesh Police to trace the distribution network.
