Gujarat bowlers rattle Kerala in Ranji Trophy Elite Group C match
Captain Chintan Gaja and Arzan Nagwaswalla used new ball spells to dismiss Kerala for 279 in Ahmedabad.
Gujarat bowlers Chintan Gaja and Arzan Nagwaswalla took decisive spells to rattle Kerala during their Ranji Trophy Elite Group C match at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad on Wednesday, according to Sportstar and The Hindu.
Nagwaswalla took four for 59 and Gaja took three for 65. The duo removed Kerala's top-order on Tuesday evening and followed up with spells after tea on Wednesday when the visitors collapsed from 277 for six to 279 all out within three overs.
Following on, Kerala lost Rohan Kunnummal for 7 runs, while Abhishek J. Nair scored 29 and Sachin Baby scored zero before stumps were drawn.
Captain Chintan Gaja said the team wanted to maximise the advantage of the new ball by bowling in the right areas and keeping pressure. Gaja complimented the spinners for keeping it tight and noted that Nagwaswalla's away going deliveries created doubt in the batters' minds.
Gaja described the wicket of Sarvate as crucial and stated that the team will go all out tomorrow to look for a win.
Nagwaswalla said he struck a nice rhythm early and was looking to swing the ball, adding that he was happy to get crucial wickets for the team.
