Minister for Business and Competitiveness Martin Lidegaard met Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Varma to explore investment opportunities in green shipping and digital infrastructure.

Denmark's Minister for Business and Competitiveness, Martin Lidegaard, visited Mumbai on Monday to advance cooperation in maritime affairs, technology, trade, and investment, according to a statement from the Danish Embassy reported by Daily Excelsior.

During the visit, Lidegaard met Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Varma to discuss Danish investments, the European Union's India Free Trade Agreement, and economic opportunities in the maritime sector and infrastructure.

The minister also visited APM Terminals Mumbai, also known as Gateway Terminals India, at the Jawaharlal Nehru Port. He discussed port operations, infrastructure development, and the use of green technologies to improve efficiency and sustainability.

Lidegaard noted that Denmark and Maharashtra are economies of roughly the same size. He stated that more than 60 Danish companies, including those in shipping and consumer goods, are already operating in the state.

The minister mentioned that the Danish shipping company Maersk is active in the local shipping sector and expressed interest in seeing cooperation grow with the coming EU-India free trade agreement.

The visit focused on practical cooperation in maritime and digital infrastructure, as well as how Indo-Danish maritime collaboration can promote green growth in India's maritime sector.
