The city recorded an Air Quality Index of 350 on Tuesday, with Jahangirpuri reporting severe pollution levels.
Delhi recorded its highest pollution levels in 287 days on Tuesday, as the Air Quality Index (AQI) reached 350, according to The Pioneer. This marks the worst air quality in the capital since January 20, when the index was 378.
Out of 57 monitoring stations in the city, 10 reported severe pollution, 35 were very poor, and 12 were poor. Jahangirpuri recorded the highest reading at 462, which falls in the severe category under the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) scale.
PM2.5 was identified as the primary pollutant. The Commission for Air Quality Management had previously imposed Stage II of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) on Monday after the AQI reached 324.
Data from the Decision Support System (DSS) indicated that transport emissions contributed 15.8 per cent to the pollution, while stubble burning accounted for 15.3 per cent. Other contributors included residential sources at 3.9 per cent and industries at 3 per cent.
The Air Quality Early Warning System for Delhi has forecast that conditions will remain very poor from November 4 to 6. The six-day outlook suggests air quality will fluctuate between very poor and severe levels.
