CNG installation demand rises in NCR after Delhi vehicle restrictions

Operators in Noida, Ghaziabad and Gurugram report up to 50 per cent spike in conversions following new emission rules.

CNG installation centres in Noida, Ghaziabad and Gurugram have seen a sharp increase in demand following new vehicle restrictions imposed by the Delhi government, according to reports by Hindustan Times.

The rules, which began on November 1 and are set to continue until January 31, 2027, prevent non-Delhi-registered vehicles that fail to meet BS-VI emission standards from entering the capital.

The restrictions target petrol and diesel vehicles that are BS-IV or older, while electric vehicles, CNG vehicles, and certain emergency vehicles are exempt from these measures.

Shakti Singh, a car expert with a CNG venture in Noida's Sector 122, said demand grew by more than 50 per cent over the last 15 days. He noted that conversion costs start at approximately Rs 35,000, providing an affordable alternative for middle-class families.

Yatin Bansal of Car Craft in Noida's Sector 83 reported that daily enquiries have risen by nearly 50 per cent. He stated that BS-IV vehicle conversions cost between Rs 35,000 and Rs 50,000, while BS-VI conversions range from Rs 50,000 to Rs 70,000.

In Karnal, an installer reported a 25-30 per cent rise in installations. Deshraj of RB Autos, who has 20 years of experience in the industry, said while seasonal increases occur during pollution months, the current surge is more evident due to the new restrictions.
