Gujarat forest beat guards and vanpals end agitation
Forest and environment minister Arjun Modhwadia said the employees reached an agreement with senior officials regarding their working conditions and other demands.
Forest beat guards and vanpals in Gujarat have decided to stop their protest after meeting with senior officials from the forest department, according to The Times of India.
Forest and environment minister Arjun Modhwadia announced on Tuesday that the discussions resulted in a positive outcome. He stated that the state government is taking a sympathetic view of the demands raised by the employees.
The employees had been protesting over various issues, including their working conditions. Modhwadia noted that certain pending matters require approval from the finance department and the general administration department (GAD).
The minister assured that these issues would be addressed through prescribed procedures to ensure they are resolved as soon as possible.
Modhwadia acknowledged the contribution of the forest personnel, stating that beat guards and vanpals work in difficult and adverse conditions around the clock to protect wildlife and forests.
