Telangana FMG interns to resume peaceful protest on November 4
Foreign Medical Graduates are restarting their agitation after claiming that meetings with the Health Minister failed to provide a written commitment regarding stipend parity.
Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs) undergoing internships in Telangana will resume their peaceful protest on Wednesday, according to The Hindu. The interns stated that previous discussions with Health Minister C. Damodar Raja Narasimha and various officials did not result in a resolution for their demands.
The group had paused their agitation for 10 days to allow the government time to act. However, they alleged that they have received no official circular, Government Order (GO), or written assurance regarding their concerns.
The interns are seeking a monthly stipend of ₹29,792 to match the amount paid to Indian Medical Graduates (IMGs). They are also demanding the payment of pending stipend arrears from January 2026 at the parity rate and an assurance against victimisation or arbitrary internship extensions.
A representative said that during a meeting on October 29, the Minister assured them a solution would be worked out within two days after discussions with the Director of Medical Education and Principal Secretary. At a meeting on Tuesday, the Minister requested another two to three days to consult with the Chief Minister.
The representatives noted that some protesting FMGs were detained by police on October 22. They maintained that they have continued to seek a resolution through dialogue and peaceful protest.
