Hyderabad water board urges citizens to report wastage via PAANI app

The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board has invited residents to register as volunteers to identify drinking water misuse.

The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) has called on citizens to participate in water conservation efforts using the PAANI mobile app, according to The Hindu.

As of Wednesday, 437 individuals had voluntarily registered through the board's website. Residents can register as a ‘Save Water Volunteer’ on the board's website and then download the app from the Google Play Store.

The app allows individuals to identify and report instances of drinking water misuse or wastage in their surroundings. This includes using drinking water to wash floors or vehicles and overflowing water tanks.

HMWS&SB officials stated that they will conduct field inspections and take action once reported violations are verified. The identities of the volunteers will be kept confidential.

The board has urged residents from residential areas, gated communities, apartment complexes, and every colony to step forward as water warriors.
