LG sets six-month deadline for universities to roll out DYD programme

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha called for coordinated academic reforms and resource-sharing among higher education institutions during a high-level meeting.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday set a six-month deadline for universities in Jammu and Kashmir to implement the ‘Design Your Degree’ (DYD) programme, according to the Kashmir Observer.

Chairing a Jammu and Kashmir Higher Education Council (JKHEC) meeting at Lok Bhavan, Sinha said the time has come to translate council initiatives into tangible achievements.

The meeting focused on aligning undergraduate and postgraduate programmes with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the DYD framework.

Sinha called for universities to share academic credits, research laboratories, and other resources to transform the higher education system.

The Council also discussed setting up a task force to integrate Artificial Intelligence, including Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Data Science, into curricula.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Minister for School Education, Higher Education and Jal Shakti Shamim Firdous attended the meeting alongside various vice-chancellors and senior officials.
