The Manipur athlete secured a bronze in the women's Changquan combined event in Dakar, Senegal.

Rajkumari Lanchenbi Chanu became the first Indian to win a wushu medal at the Youth Olympic Games, clinching a bronze in the women's Changquan combined event in Dakar on Tuesday, according to Rediff and The News Mill.

She finished behind Egypt's Sondos Sonbol, who won gold with 18.660 points, and Venezuela's Valeria Frannerys Dudamel Alvarado, who took silver with 18.199 points.

The bronze marks wushu's debut as a medal event at the Dakar Youth Olympics. Chanu had previously won bronze in the girls' youth Changquan event at the 2026 World Junior Wushu Championships in Tianjin, China, The News Mill reported.
