NHM Jharkhand signs three agreements to improve maternal healthcare

The National Health Mission has partnered with three foundations to strengthen health systems and test new medical technologies across several districts.

The National Health Mission (NHM) Jharkhand has signed three memorandums of understanding to enhance maternal and child healthcare and test new medical technologies, according to a report by Urban Acres.

The agreements involve the PHIA Foundation, Bharathiya Vikas Trust, and Tata Steel Foundation to improve public health delivery and health governance across the state.

The partnerships with the PHIA Foundation and Bharathiya Vikas Trust will start the District Health Sandbox initiative in Sahibganj, West Singhbhum, Khunti, Koderma, and Seraikela-Kharsawan. This model will use specific healthcare facilities to evaluate new medical devices and technologies before they are used more widely.

A separate three-year agreement with the Tata Steel Foundation aims to improve service delivery and health outcomes for mothers and children. Through its MANSI+ programme, the foundation will carry out maternal and newborn health work in East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, and Seraikela-Kharsawan.

The foundation will also run Project SWASTH in 10 districts, including Ranchi, Dhanbad, Bokaro, Ramgarh, and Dumka. This project will focus on staffing, supply chains, and public health facilities.

NHM mission director Shashi Prakash Jha said the partnerships will help strengthen frontline healthcare systems and support evidence-based planning to improve access to quality care in Jharkhand.
