Samsung details manufacturing and durability testing for Galaxy Z Fold 8

The South Korean technology company has optimised approximately 270 main components and over 180 auxiliary parts for its latest foldable device.

South Korean technology company Samsung has shared details regarding the manufacturing and durability testing of its Galaxy Z Fold 8, according to Moneycontrol.

The company stated that eight generations of foldable development helped balance portability, battery performance, display quality and durability. The device has a weight of 201g and a thickness of 4.5mm when unfolded and 9.7mm when folded.

Samsung said the design was achieved through internal structural changes rather than just shrinking components. The smartphone uses Flex Titanium, which combines an ultra-thin titanium-alloy film with a titanium support plate to make the display module 10 per cent thinner.

The frame features Advanced Armour Aluminium to maintain rigidity and resist deformation. Samsung noted that space saved through internal design changes allowed for a larger battery and better thermal management.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 includes a silicon-carbon anode, higher-performance graphite and Independent Charging Architecture. To ensure quality, Samsung conducts more than 100 reliability validation tests on the devices.

These assessments evaluate the smartphone as a complete system. Tests include impact, pressure, exposure to particles and repeated folding and unfolding to check long-term operation and display quality.
