Telangana expands Indiramma Towers housing project to four more cities

The state government will build the G+5 residential towers in Nizamabad, Warangal, Nalgonda and Karimnagar to assist low-income families.

The Telangana government has decided to construct Indiramma Towers in Nizamabad, Warangal, Nalgonda and Karimnagar, according to The Times of India. The project follows the model currently being implemented in Greater Hyderabad.

Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy stated at a media briefing in Medchal-Malkajgiri district on Wednesday that notifications for the construction of these towers will be released shortly. The buildings will consist of a ground floor and five additional floors.

Minister Reddy said the towers are intended to provide housing for low-income families. He noted that 4.5 lakh houses were sanctioned in the first phase, with 2,21,500 housewarming ceremonies completed and 1.9 lakh units under construction. An additional 2.5 lakh houses have been sanctioned in the second phase.

The minister also announced that one lakh low-income group (LIG) flats will be built in the CURE area and Greater Hyderabad. He said the government intends to extend housing schemes to rural, urban and remote tribal areas, including Thandas.

Under the 'Maa Indiramma Intlo Deepavali' initiative, officials and public representatives have been asked to visit beneficiaries who have completed housewarming ceremonies to participate in Diwali celebrations. Reddy said lighting lamps in these homes symbolises the Congress government's commitment to welfare.
