Three militants killed in Manipur gunfight between rival groups

The exchange of fire occurred at Taodaijang village in the Noney district during the early hours of Wednesday.

At least three militants died during a gunfight between rival groups in Manipur's Noney district on Wednesday, according to The New Indian Express.

The heavy exchange of fire took place around 4 am at Taodaijang village in the Khoupum area of the Naga-majority district. Officials said the cadres involved are believed to be part of different Naga militant outfits, such as the Zeliangrong United Front (Jenchui), and other rival factions.

Local residents recovered the bodies of the deceased men. Following the clash, a group of locals led by women visited the site to try and stop more violence from occurring between the factions.

The residents also used a public address system to request that the cadres cease firing, officials stated. Further details regarding the incident are currently awaited.
