Local residents led by women used a public address system to appeal for an end to the violence in Noney district.
At least three militants died during a gunfight between rival groups in the Noney district of Manipur on Wednesday, according to The New Indian Express.
The heavy exchange of fire occurred around 4 am at Taodaijang village in the Khoupum area of the Naga-majority district. The individuals involved are believed to be members of different Naga militant organisations, such as the Zeliangrong United Front (Jenchui) and other rival factions.
Local residents recovered the bodies of the three men following the clash. In an effort to stop more violence from occurring between the factions, local people led by women went to the site of the incident.
These residents also employed a public address system to request that the cadres cease their firing, officials said. Further details regarding the incident are awaited.
