Man arrested in West Bengal for allegedly murdering wife

The accused was seen carrying the victim's severed head out of a temple in Gangarampur town, according to The Assam Tribune.

A man named Rintu Ghosh was arrested on Wednesday after allegedly killing his wife and appearing from a temple near his home in the Narayanpur area of Gangarampur, West Bengal, according to The Assam Tribune.

Police recovered the torso and severed head of the victim, identified as Seema Sarkar. Ghosh was reportedly seen sitting inside the temple with the head before walking out while carrying the head in one hand and a knife in the other.

Neighbours told local media that Ghosh, a former government bus conductor, had recently been staying at home. One neighbour stated that people moved away in fear when the accused emerged from the temple.

A relative, Rajesh Pramanik, said the couple had two sons and noted that Ghosh had previously engaged in small business activities. Pramanik also claimed that Ghosh would sometimes act like a tantric and eat vegetarian food.

Police officials are currently questioning Ghosh to establish the motive behind the killing. The motive for the alleged murder has not yet been established.
