ED raids Moga AAP MLA Amandeep Kaur Arora's residences in land fraud case

The Enforcement Directorate searched seven premises in Punjab regarding the alleged illegal takeover of state property and misuse of public money.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted searches at the residences of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA and Punjab women's wing president Dr Amandeep Kaur Arora in Moga on Wednesday. According to reports from The Tribune and The New Indian Express, the agency also searched five other premises across Punjab in connection with an alleged fraud involving government land and the misuse of public funds in Moga district.

The searches were initiated following an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) based on a June 2024 FIR registered by the Punjab Police. That FIR, filed at the Dharmkot police station, concerns the fraudulent mutation of land intended for National Highway 754A and the improper distribution of compensation. The police allege that records were manipulated to siphon off Rs 1,00,65,724 intended for land in Adraman village.

The ED teams, including units from Delhi and Chandigarh, arrived at the properties in the early hours. While one source reported the arrival at 6 am, Moga Senior Deputy Mayor Rakesh Kumar Bajaj claimed the teams arrived around 3 am. The MLA was at home during the questioning, and security personnel were deployed at the sites.

AAP leaders and associates of the MLA have alleged the raids are politically motivated. Jagdev Singh, an associate of Arora, claimed the action was intended to pressure her into joining the BJP or the SAD. Bajaj also alleged that the agency has been building pressure against the MLA for the past five to seven days ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.
