ED raids premises of AAP MLA Amandeep Kaur Arora in Moga
The Enforcement Directorate is searching seven locations in connection with alleged fraudulent land mutation and misappropriation of public funds.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted searches at seven premises in Punjab's Moga district on Wednesday, including the residence and camp office of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Dr Amandeep Kaur Arora. According to The Indian Express, the searches involve Arora, her husband Dr Rakesh Arora, family members, associates, and a de-addiction hospital linked to Rakesh Arora.
The agency is investigating the alleged fraudulent acquisition of government and institutional properties and the misappropriation of public funds. Officials told ANI that the ED recorded an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) based on a June 16, 2024, First Information Report (FIR) registered by the Punjab Police. The police case concerns the fraudulent mutation of government land acquired for National Highway No 754A and the wrongful disbursement of compensation.
The search operation aims to unearth the money trail and collect evidence, including digital materials, related to the alleged corruption. The premises being searched include Arora's Icon Heights flat on GT Road and her camp office in Model Colony, Dosanjh Road.
Dr Arora, who is also the AAP Women's Wing president in Punjab, has previously denied allegations of corruption. In January 2024, the Punjab Lokpal summoned the MLA and three family members following a complaint from a former personal assistant, Harsh Aren, who alleged involvement in buying benami properties and encroaching government land. Arora denied those claims, stating she was open to any inquiry.
