Congress leaders attack Punjab government over law and order situation

Vijay Inder Singla and Charanjit Singh Channi accused the AAP government of failing to address gangsterism and drug issues.

Congress leaders on Wednesday criticised the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab, alleging that the state is facing a deteriorating law and order situation, rising gangsterism, and a drug menace. According to ANI, Congress leader Vijay Inder Singla claimed the state government has failed on multiple fronts.

Singla stated that despite the AAP winning 92 seats in the 2022 Assembly elections, drugs and weapons are entering the state across the border. He alleged that murders of police personnel, village heads, and common citizens are occurring in broad daylight.

Congress MP Charanjit Singh Channi also criticised the administration on Tuesday, alleging that Punjab has become a police state. Channi claimed the state is experiencing rampant hooliganism and a widespread drug problem under the AAP government.

Channi further accused the BJP of preventing parliamentary debates regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) issue. He alleged that both the Prime Minister and Amit Shah avoid participating in parliamentary sessions.

Congress Punjab in-charge Sachin Pilot said that Rahul Gandhi would bring the political fight to the stronghold of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann during a rally in Sangrur on November 4. Pilot alleged that families in the state are living in fear because of narcotics trafficking and violence.

The rally in Sangrur, which includes Rahul Gandhi and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, is intended to launch the party's campaign for the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections.
