Karnataka Congress president doubts fairness of sting operation probe

B K Hariprasad says the party is embarrassed and the high command is unhappy over the sting video row.

Karnataka Congress president B K Hariprasad has expressed uncertainty regarding the fairness of the ongoing investigation into a sting operation row, according to a Deccan Herald interview. Hariprasad stated that he is unsure how fair the probe will be because political leaders are involved.

The Congress leader said the issue is embarrassing for the party and affects its overall image. He noted that the party high command is not happy with the current situation in Karnataka.

Hariprasad demanded that the investigation should target the individuals responsible for creating the videos and those attempting to use them for blackmail, rather than just those who circulated them. He mentioned that Krupa Alva was expelled for alleged blackmail.

Regarding the Bengaluru police commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh revealing findings while the probe is ongoing, Hariprasad called the move unprecedented. He stated that officers should respect the Constitution and the Tricolour before any other consideration.

The president also addressed the impact of the controversy on recent elections, noting that the sting row damaged the party's chances in the teachers and graduates constituencies during the MLC elections. He added that the erosion of political ethics hurt their electoral performance.
